Care Instructions / Requests

Hand Painted Denim Jackets:

Machine Washing Instructions: Fasten all front buttons and cuffs on jacket and turn completely inside out to wash (you may use a mesh laundry bag for added protection, if desired). Use a mild liquid detergent and do not use fabric softener. Use cold water (using warm or hot water can loosen the bond of the paint to the fabric and cause it to peel). Select Delicate, Gentle or Hand-Wash mode with a low spin speed on your washer.

Avoid Optical Brighteners

Wash Solo or with Soft Items: Wash your jacket alone or with soft clothing like t-shirts. Avoid washing it with items that have heavy exposed metal zippers or velcro, which can scratch the artwork.

Drying Instructions: For best results hang dry or lay flat to dry, away from direct sunlight. You may use a dryer, as the paint used is rated dryer-safe, but the heavy weight of tumbling denim can cause the fabric to crease sharply over the artwork.

Ironing Instructions: Always iron inside out so you are ironing the back of the denim fabric, not the paint. Use low to medium heat. Keep Steam Low: While light steam is okay for removing denim wrinkles after the paint is fully cured, it is safest to use a dry iron or a very minimal steam setting to prolong the life of the paint.

  • If you must iron from the right side (the outside) to get a stubborn wrinkle out near the art, place a clean, dry white cotton cloth completely over the painted design. Gently glide the iron over the cloth.
